Noyo Food Forest, home to the Learning Garden, is a small climate-smart production farm located on the Fort Bragg High School campus. Founded in 2006 with a vision of creating accessible garden spaces for the community, the Learning Garden has grown into a thriving farm dedicated to cultivating fresh, sustainably grown food for the Fort Bragg Unified School District’s Farm to School program.
We believe that when young people grow food, they are more likely to eat and value it. Each week, produce grown by students, staff, and volunteers is harvested and walked from our farm to the school cafeteria—less than a block away.
Noyo Food Forest is also a center for education in community-based agriculture and regenerative growing practices. Through our paid internship program and hands-on learning opportunities, students gain experience in sustainable farming, nutrition, biodiversity, and climate-resilient agriculture.
We host the North Coast’s annual Earth Day Festival and work year-round to cultivate a healthy local food system by creating opportunities for Mendocino Coast youth and community members to learn about, grow, and access garden-fresh food.
Noyo Food Forest is supported through plant and produce sales, donations, grants, and the dedication of our staff, board members, students, and volunteers.
