We are honored to receive support for our organization and our educational programs from:
- The City of Fort Bragg: The City of Fort Bragg is a premier community partner. In 2011, NFF was the City’s contracted consultant to perform a comprehensive Fort Bragg Vermicompost Feasibility Study, which was paid for by a State of California Community Development Block Grant. To facilitate this specialized analysis, Noyo Food Forest contracted Transition Ventures. The result has been vigorous and enthusiastic community meetings with the North Coast Brewing Company and the City to implement the next phase: developing a model pilot vermiculture facility.
- Fort Bragg Unified School District: Fort Bragg Unified School District, a rural district on the northern coast of California with 1800 K-12 students on six campuses, is dedicated to school gardens and nutrition education. FBUSD, in its partnership with NFF, is now recognized as a model of a successful farm-to-school program for other districts. Fort Bragg’s Nutrition Director, Pilar Gray, is the Northern California ambassador for the California Department of Education Team Nutrition “Stepping Up to the Challenge, Creating a Healthy School Environment” training program.
-
Community Foundation of Mendocino County: Community Foundation of Mendocino County is a nonprofit organization serving all of Mendocino County and its service areas. The Foundation helps people give back in ways that matter to them and in ways that strengthen local communities. They have granted NFF funding for our van and our irrigation system.
-
Mendocino Coast Children’s Fund: The Mendocino Coast Children’s Fund provides children essentials and necessities, hopes and dreams, opportunities and activities. They fund our Summer Youth Intern program and support the Nature Day Camp.
- Mendocino County Office of Education: Since 2005, the Mendocino County Office of Education has been a close and honored partner in our mission. They provide the actual structures that we have rehabilitated and maintain as our office, greenhouse, shade house and our original hoop house. Their support has been crucial to development of the Learning Garden and our educational mission.
-
Rotary Club of Fort Bragg values Service above Self, and has helped us to plant a garden at Noyo High School.
- Rose Foundation: The Rose Foundation believes in the power of informed community involvement. They support grassroots initiatives to inspire community action to protect the environment, consumers and public health. They have funded NFF to develop this website, make signs for our gardens, and translate our materials into Spanish.
- The Foundation for Youth Investment: The Foundation for Youth Investment (FYI) develops and transforms underserved youth by investing in effective programs and creating strategic initiatives that connect kids to the great outdoors.
We donate food to:
- Fort Bragg Food Bank: Founded in 1979, the Mendocino Food & Nutrition Program (the Fort Bragg Food Bank) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation whose objective is to distribute emergency food to and improve the nutrition of needy residents of Mendocino County.
