The Noyo Food Forest has played an active role in re-invigorating The Senior Kitchen Garden at the Redwood Coast Senior Center in Fort Bragg.  In this small garden, vegetables are grown for the senior lunch program and special events.  Kale, lettuce, endive, radishes, mustard greens, peas, parsley, and other vegetables are grown year round.  In the summer sunflowers and sunchokes grow along the Harold Street fence.  The RCSC kitchen staff like preparing this fresh food and the diners appreciate the tasty and nutritious variety.

This year the RCSC will be expanding its salad bar and The Senior Kitchen Garden will be expanding two or three times in size.  Garden workdays are Monday afternoons from 1 to 3:00.   Gardeners of all ages and with a variety of experience are invited.   There are all kinds of jobs: sitting at the picnic table to clean and sort harvest, vigorously digging beds, kneeling to pull weeds, and walking into the kitchen with fresh food.  For information call the RCSC at 964-0443
